Hi Andy,
Thanks very much for your email.
DOLMAN (and related Lines) is one of my "problem" areas on my Tree.
My grandmother (Mum's side) was a WHITE. The WHITE Line connects to a CAREY Line and a Robert CAREY (Second Great Granduncle) bp. 5 Jun 1803, West Knoyle, WIL, ENG married Maria DOLMAN (bp. 6 Aug 1804, Melksham, WIL, ENG) on 24 Oct 1824, Great Canford, DOR, ENG.
Now normally I would have left it at that but when I saw that Maria DOLMAN's parents were John DOLMAN (bp. 19 Jan 1766, Cherhill, WIL, ENG) and Sarah NASH (I cannot ID a bp. for her) married 27 May 1792, Lacock, WIL, ENG I became more interested as I have more NASH that marry into the WHITE Line.
This John DOLMAN was the son of John DOLMAN (bp. 24 Mar 1727/28, Calne, WIL, ENG) & Mary GREEN who married 24 Aug 1761, Calne, WIL, ENG. To my current knowledge they had 3 children: -
William DOLMAN bp. 6 May 1764, Cherhill, WIL, ENG. I have not found a marriage for him.
John DOLMAN (he is the one I mentioned above who married Sarah NASH). Betty DOLMAN bp. 30 Oct 1769, Cherhill, WIL, ENG. Betty married an Edward WESTON 6 Aug 1796, Calne, WIL, ENG but I have not carried out any more research.
Best regards,
Ian Butterworth

William Dolman 1803 Cherhill
Is anyone looking at the family history of the Dolman family from the Cherhill, Calne, Calstone, Studley and Bremhill areas of Wiltshire? My own line of enquiy has only taken me back as far as William Dolman Born between (probably 1803 to 1806) in Cherhill. The only lead I have is a William Dolman born in 1799 in Cherhill, son of William and Betty Dolman. This is possible as the dates on the census already vary considerably from one census to another. This William (17/11/1799) had at least 2 siblings (James 27/5/1792 and John 1/2/1789) . His father William was c1764 - siblings;
1764 May 6 William s John & Mary Dolman
1766 Jan 19 John s John & Mary Dolman
1767 Dec (no date) Isaac s John Dolman
1769 Oct 30 Betty s John & Mary Dolman
If anyone can help untangle this I'd be grateful.
Andy Dolman
